Homosassa Scalloping

The opening day of scallop season in 2015 was a good one at Homosassa Scalloping Charters. We had 4 boats with happy scallopers go out the first day on 4 hour scalloping charters and had great success. All the boats got there 10 gallon limit with in just 4 hours.

it looks like its starting out to be another banner scalloping season in Homosassa and Crystal River with good reports coming in from are guides and the scallop cleaners like the Local boys out at the end of the dock at Mac Rae’s.

The scallops are a little smaller in size compared to last year with the most of them being just out side of the Homosassa River and up to the north in that 3 to 6 foot of water depending on the tide. We have been finding the scallops mostly in the short grass around the sand holes but don’t pass up searching in the longer grass.when the tide slows down or during slack tide.
